Balance // all-you-can eat lunch buffet

-- "Competitive eater has stomach of steel" in The Vancouver Courier, Friday August 22 2008

Corrections: Ballance // all-you-can-eat lunch buffet

The thing about both of these errors is that Ballance's name is correctly spelled in the sentence immediately prior, and the phrase all-you-can-eat isn't missing any hyphens in the subheadline nor in the paragraph two prior.

Martha Reeve's amazing voice reminds woman of all ages

-- "Charting summer's top tunes" in The Province, Sunday August 17 2008

Corrections: Martha Reeves's amazing voice reminds women of all ages

We would have also accepted Reeves', sans the extra s. Reeve's is the correct written form only if the person's name is Reeve.

10-km swim

-- "Silver lining for Whitfield" in The Province, Tuesday August 19 2008

Correction: 1.5-km swim

Unfortunately, due to my laziness in checking when it would be aired, I didn't watch Simon Whitfield compete in the Beijing triathlon. I'm what one would call a casual triathlon fan, so I wasn't sure when I read the article but a 10km swim seemed awfully long. Doing some research by looking at the Triathlon wikipedia page (specifically the Standard race distances section), my instinct was proven trustworthy.

McDonald's Continuity

This commercial has played many times during the Olympics on at least two channels in the Vancouver market (CBC3 and Global11). In the long shot the boy who wants to be a mascot is holding the glass with his right hand. In the glass's close-up a left hand is holding the cup. See it to believe it.

LEATHER SOFA'S

-- Melania Designer Furniture Liquidation Centre billboard in Richmond, BC, Canada, Tuesday July 29 2008

Correction: LEATHER SOFAS

Ladies and gentlemen, you do not put an apostrophe before a plural s. Not now, not ever. The above sign faces north toward the Ikea parking lot at 3200 Sweden Way. We were dropping the kids off at the play area and then heading upstairs for some cheap brekky. If you're in the area, the food served is good and cheap. And you can be child free for free for an hour while enjoying your meal and doing some shopping - score!
